honestly, I'm not a student who major culture, literature or sth similar to it. but I really love to search about the history sth, even though my history grade when I was in high school was very bad. lol. well, I admit that I am bad at remembering so I'm not ambitious with it. and what I wanna tell in this post is about the largest empire in Southeast Asia which located in Indonesia (my home country 😎). And the reason I write this is cuz after I moved into the country which they just have 1 ethnic I really grateful that being born in that country which has so much ethnic and culture. here we go~~
noted: I'll not write the overall history ✌
the world's largest island state of Indonesia is an archipelago of over 17k islands more than six religions, and 300 different ethnicities. and all of these was unify by the Majapahit empire. so we can say that the based of Indonesia is Majapahit empire. and as long as I grew up in Indonesia, I met many ethnicities living in Indonesia such as Chinese, Balinese, Sundanese, Javanese, Sumba, Asmat etc. it's so wonderful if I think of it again, like they living together as a union of a nation. well even though there are always conflicts between ethnic groups, but when it comes to defending the nation they all have one soul. and how they can live together like that? there's a motto/slogan/ whatever its that called "BHINEKA TUNGGAL IKA" which having means despite the differences in ethnic groups, we're still united as one or short as unity in diversity. and what's the story behind this call the unity?
so the motto came from the oldest manuscript written by Mpu Tantular in the Majapahit empire era. this manuscripts itself tells the story of prince Sutasoma's odyssey. during his journey, he saw many things. the short story, the prince which offered his body to Buddha, then the Buddha and Lord shiva battled until the priests told them to stop fighting. because although they looked different in reality they were one. it's a parable of religious harmony during the 200-year rule of the Majapahit that stood for how Buddhism and Hinduism were often practised side by side. an idea of acceptance that continues to have resonance today. And Majapahit is said to have been the first kingdom to united the diverse archipelago.
in addition, during the 40 years under the reign of the great king Hayam Wuruk, the Majapahit kingdom exerted great influence over what is now known as Indonesia. but traders from the Middle East, India and China brought with them new beliefs and spelling changes.
from that short story, we can see how diverse Indonesia is. since our ancestors until now, there have been many sailors or foreigners who have come and gone. cuz if I tell you in honest detail, Indonesia has so much natural wealth that it has yet to be explored. in fact, I know very well about it. but I just realized when I was living abroad that Indonesia is truly extraordinary regardless of its system of government which so suck. lol. but nevertheless I grateful that I'm Indonesian. I know how to respect the other people's religion, skin colour, unique things. I mean idk about nowadays situation about mutual respect in Indonesia(getting worse or better), but apart from that I, who was born as a human, I think this should be learn since we were a child. cuz when I living here there're a lot people who don't know about the other's culture, religion, cuz most of it just live here. I mean they're never leaving of this country which in Indonesia sentence "mainnya kurang jauh". also although they traveled they just traveled to neighbouring countries which is they are still one race. very funny. that's why I think it's imperative to learn other's country culture, or other people's religion or maybe to travel around if you have time and meeting new people from around the world. cuz from that you can learn how to respect the others choice, how to behave when meeting people who's different from you also you'll know how bad it feels to be in the minority. so after knowing all of those things I believe that someone can be a person with a lot of perspectives and knowledge. it's a good point since not everyone can position himself as someone else. 🙃
